The children
have had a very busy start to 2015!
The children
have enjoyed participating in the ‘RSPB Big School’s Birdwatch‘. They have
worked hard to secure their ability to identify common garden birds. They have
observed and counted birds seen in the school grounds.
The
results for ‘The Big School’s Birdwatch 2015’ are as follows:
2
Starlings
2
Jackdaws
1
Robin
2
Magpies
2
Woodpigeons
2
Blue Tits
1
Long Tailed Tit
2
Great Tits
1
Blackbird
1
Black-Headed Gull
Beautiful
paintings have been produced in response to their first hand experience of bird
watching.
Following
observations of child initiated interest in class, the children have been
investigating and exploring ‘building’ and in particular, building walls. They
have particularly enjoyed sharing and responding to the stories of Little
Lumpty (with reference to Humpty Dumpty) and the story of ‘The Three Little
Pigs’.
The children
have explored the concept of slope and gradient, acting out the rescue of
‘Little Lumpty’ from the top of the high wall.
The children
have extended their skills with handling tools to aid their construction of
structures.
So as you can see we have been
very busy and have learnt lots.
Next we are going to explore the
topic of ‘Fairy Tales’, because the children have demonstrated a strong
interest in this topic.
